John Cavazos — Disney Singer at Epcot American Adventure
John Cavazos, a native of Los Angeles, spent 20 years living and working in New York City.
John Cavazos was cast in May of 2004 in The Voices of Liberty at EPCOT/Disney. This a cappela ensemble comprised of eight singers began as The Regeneration in the 1970’s – a gospel Acappela group whose gifted voices and soaring arrangements by Derric Johnson quickly put them on the map traveling and recording and ministering around the country. The group was invited to Disney and offered a contract in 1982 and have been there ever since as The Voices of Liberty. VOL is one of the oldest and longest running productions at Walt Disney World and their impressive vocals have attracted many year-round ticket holders to continue to come back over 30 years just to hear them sing. They have performed for every kind of imaginable event from singing the Star Spangled Banner at the opening of the Citrus Bowl to singing at the White House for President Reagan. Most recently, they sang for the 30th anniversary memorial of the Challenger Disaster at the Kennedy Space Center.
Despite John’s demanding schedule he continues to teach and coach more than 40 voice students from Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and The Holy Land Experience and is effectively – the voice teacher in demand in the Orlando area.
John has taught at Rollins College of Music as an Adjunct Professor working with the Rollins Singers under the guidance of Dr. John Sinclair, and holds a B.A. in Music from Rollins college.
John and his beautiful wife, Annie, have been married 26 years and have two very lovely and accomplished daughters, Ariel and Jerusha.
